Clanwilliam 15 Waterpark 6

Waterpark came up short against their Tipperary opponents Clanwillam in the final of the Garryowen Cup last Sunday. The game was played in monsoon like conditions in Clonmel and both sides struggled to adapt to the elements. The first half was a scrappy affair with handling errors and knock on’s the order of the day. Out half James Kiersey (pictured above) kicked 2 penalties to give Waterpark a slight halftime advantage of 6 points to 3.

The second half continued in the same vein as the first half with both sides struggling with the conditions. Waterpark had a number of scoring opportunities but were unable to take them. Clanwilliam kicked 4 successful penalties to seal the win as the Waterford side tussled with the referees understanding of the laws.
Next week will see the start of the league campaign with a trip to Kerry to take on Castleisland. Some work to be done between now and then, for both the forwards and back units.
