Munster Junior League v Richmond

Waterpark were on the wrong end of a nineteen points defeat against title chasers Richmond in this Munster Junior League game played at Canal Bank, Limerick on Sunday last.

A penalty after only two minutes put Park in front at 0-3, a lead which they held until the twentieth minute when the home side registered their first score with a push over try which they also converted to go 7-3 ahead. This was followed ten minutes by another converted try after the home winger was given the freedom of the park to go over near the posts. Two quick fire tries just coming up to half time secured the bonus point for the home side at 24-3.

During the second half Park got their act together and on fifty minutes a try by winger, Davy Copeland, converted by Walsh put them back in the game at 24-10. The deficit was cut to 24-15 on the hour mark with a try by centre, Donal Kavanagh, after he finished off a lovely move by the backs. Unfortunately this fight back began to take its toll and in the final ten minutes Richmond ran in two unconverted tries to gain maximum points and keep their league challenge alive.
