Under 15s seal cup victory

WATERPARK RUGBY

EAST MUNSTER
UNDER 15 CUP FINAL
SECOND HALF PERFORMANCE SEALS VICTORY.
WATERPARK 12 3 CASHEL
In glorious sunshine at Tybroughney Park, in Carrick-on-Suir on Sunday morning last, and down 3-0 at the break, a brilliant second half performance by these Waterpark youngsters saw them victorious over a tough Cashel side by 12-3 in this East Munster Under 15 Cup Final.

Good Start
Park started the better and for the first ten minutes had the lion's share of both possession and territory. However they lost their shape and allowed the Tipperary side back into the game and in truth were under the cosh up to the twentieth minute when they lost influential scrum half Isaac Daly to the Bin for a penalty infringement which the Cashel winger, Ryan O'Donnell, punished with a great kick from thirty metres. After this double setback Park regrouped and despite gaining the upper hand again they were unable to put points on the board and it was Cashel ahead by 3-0 at half time.

Stern Words
With Park playing well below their capabilities in the opening period, during the break they got a bit of a rollicking from their coaches, to such an extent that they came out with all guns blazing after the restart and within five minutes had gone in front when after a brilliant attacking break by out half, David Kavanagh, when he spilt the Cashel defence to shreads, to link up with his backs for Adam Flynn to cross in the corner for his sides opening score and with the conversion by Kavanagh just shaving the posts the score stood at 5-3 in favour of Park.

Wonderful Skills
Twelve minutes later the icing was put on the cake when Kavanagh displayed wonderful skill when, with his side on the attack and the Cashel defence under pressure, he chipped ahead and raced past his opposite number to gather the bouncing ball and dive over for Parks second try. He went on to easily slot the conversion to cap a wonderful individual effort and in the process put nine points between the sides at 12-3, a lead they never relinquished to bring the Cup back to Ballinakill.

Congratulations
Well done to all the guys and their coaches, Nigel Daly, George Corbett and Dave O'Driscoll who have guided this squad throughout the season. A big thank you to all the parents who also gave of their time in supporting their young warriors through thick and thin throughout East Munster this year and you have the sobering thought that it will only get worse as the years roll on.
